Building Energy Efficiency

Cut energy costs without adding more to your team.

Rede helps public sector and multi-site organizations find and recover unnecessary energy costs through better data, smarter decisions, and engineering expertise that stays engaged for the long term.

Energy management solutions

From scattered signals to
measurable action.

Start with the problem in front of you. Rede connects portfolio screening, energy monitoring, building recommissioning and ongoing energy management into one practical path.

  1. Which buildings need attention?

    Energy Gap Analysis

Screen energy use and cost across your portfolio before investing in a detailed commercial building energy audit.

    Explore the Energy Gap Analysis
  2. Can you see performance across every building?

    RUN Energy Monitoring

Organize utility data into one portfolio view so your team can compare performance, track actions and catch energy drift.

    Explore RUN Energy Monitoring
  3. Is the building still running as designed?

    Commercial Building Recommissioning

Tune schedules, controls, setpoints and equipment sequences to restore performance before considering major replacement.

  4. Who keeps the plan moving after the first project?

    Energy Management Services

Maintain the action plan, monitor results and catch new problems across a multi-building portfolio without building a full internal energy management function.

Check your opportunity

Find out what your buildings may be trying to tell you.

Use a few basic inputs to compare your building or portfolio against historical BC Hydro Continuous Optimization results. The output is a planning benchmark, not a savings guarantee.

Step 1 of 4

How many buildings are in scope?

A portfolio needs comparison across buildings. A single facility needs a focused investigation of that site.

What kind of organization is this?

This helps us understand your operating context before we look at the building benchmark.

Which building type is the closest match?

Choose the closest available match from historical C-Op building categories.

sq ft

If you manage multiple sites, use total portfolio area.

What is your annual utility spend?

Use electricity and fuel combined if available. If you are not sure, we will estimate using the historical cost per square foot for this building type.

This is an early planning check. Eligibility, scope, and incentives are confirmed through a conversation with the Rede team.

In their words

What the districts say.

  • Before Northland started working with Rede, we had no energy management plan at all. We recognized quickly that we can save money with an energy management program.

    Wayne Turpin

    Northland School Division

  • The Rede team is all about proactively implementing energy solutions. They see a gap and they take care of it.

    Alex Telford

    SD27 British Columbia

  • For people like myself, money talks. If we can engage someone like Rede to find inefficiencies within our facilities, then we are able to address them.

    Norman Buhler

    Fort Vermilion School Division

The Rede team

Meet the team.

Rede is a small team of engineers and energy efficiency professionals. We specialise in institutional facilities and complex building environments, and we care about the organisations and communities we work with.

Before you ask

Straight answers.
Including the numbers.

What does the Energy Gap Analysis cost?

$5,000. That’s a discounted rate for first timers. It takes four to six weeks from data access to the presentation of findings.

We analyze one to two years of utility bills across your portfolio, benchmark each facility against its peers, and give you a specific figure for recoverable savings.

Will Rede be making changes to our building systems?

No. Rede never makes changes to your building automation system directly.

All corrections are made by your own controls contractor, with your authorization. We find the drift and document exactly what needs to change. Your team decides what gets implemented.

Do we need an energy manager on staff?

No.

RUN Intelligence assumes you have someone in-house who can interpret energy data. If you do not, RUN Insights adds two senior engineer sessions a year, and Energy Management puts Rede in that role, embedded alongside your team.

How much of our team's time does this take?

Less than most people expect. Recommissioning is a desktop-based activity and requires no site visits.

What we need is remote access to your building automation system, your mechanical and electrical drawings, and a controls lead who can implement the findings.

How long before we see savings?

Every recommissioning recommendation is selected for a two-year payback or less, sooner when incentives apply. RUN pays for itself faster: typical payback is two to five months.

Energy management is a longer horizon. One Western Canadian school division began working with Rede in 2016; that engagement has now accumulated $4.4M in savings.

What if our buildings are older, or we have no modern controls?

Older buildings are not a dead end. Recommissioning needs a modern building automation system to work from, but if you do not have one we can help you install controls, and we can certainly run a full energy audit.

Either way, the Gap Analysis is still the right starting point. It works from utility bills alone and tells you which buildings deserve attention first, whatever their age.

Are there incentives that reduce the cost?

Often, yes. Many provinces have programs that apply directly to recommissioning work.

Rede identifies and manages the incentive application process as part of every recommissioning engagement. You do not do the paperwork.

What does RUN cost, and what does it include?

RUN Intelligence is 1 to 2% of your annual energy spend, capped for public sector organizations. Typical payback is two to five months.

RUN Insights is Intelligence plus $20,000 a year, which adds two senior engineer sessions. Both include onboarding, monthly utility data updates, tutorials, and technical support.

Are we committed to anything after the Gap Analysis?

No lock-in. The Gap Analysis is a one-time diagnostic. What you do with the findings is your decision.

Most districts use it to build a case internally, whether or not the next step involves us.

Who do we call if something is not working?

Rede is a small team of engineers, which means you deal with the people doing the work rather than an account layer.

We have been doing this since 2008, in communities where the work had to be done well because there was no room for anything else.

Still have a question? Book a call and we will answer it directly.
