Recommissioning

Your buildings are probably not running the way they were designed to.

Think of it as a tune-up. Over time, building automation systems drift from their original settings. Schedules get changed, setpoints shift, sequences fall out of sync. Recommissioning corrects that drift and recovers the energy performance you have been losing.

What is involved

  • Building automation system review
  • Scheduling, setpoint, and sequence corrections
  • All work selected for two-year payback or less
  • Measurement and verification of results
  • Incentive identification and applications

How it works

Find the drift. Then fix it.

Rede's engineers review your building automation systems and identify where performance has slipped from design intent. We document exactly what needs to be corrected and work alongside your facilities team or controls contractor to get it done. No capital projects required.

Every recommendation has a payback of two years or less. And we identify any provincial incentives that apply, which can meaningfully offset the cost.

What you will need

Recommissioning is a desktop-based activity. No site visits required.

Here is what makes it possible.

Rede never makes changes to the BAS directly. All corrections are made by your controls contractor, with your authorization.

Results

5.7%

average historical cost reduction across all building types, with an average simple payback of 1.7 years.

The improvements are operational: better scheduling, corrected setpoints, and properly sequenced systems. Most last two to three years before drift begins again, which is why recommissioning works best as a recurring part of an energy management program rather than a one-time fix.

The cost may be lower than you think.

Many provinces have incentive programs that apply directly to recommissioning work. Depending on your location and the scope of the project, incentives can offset a significant portion of the cost.

Rede identifies and manages the incentive application process as part of every recommissioning engagement.
